FOI / 3790 / 2019 - Fire response times and policy

Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I can confirm that Essex County Fire & Rescue Service does hold this information.

Please see the answers below to your request.

Initial Request:

I am assembling a database for our company and looking to populate it with the following two questions.

Would you be able to answer the questions below, or provide me with a contact to forward this to? If you are unable to, could you please respond stating ?not willing to provide this information??

What is the capability of the local Fire and Rescue service to attend, control and extinguish a fire at the premises? We need to know your attendance / response times to insert into our FRA?S

What is the policy on unwanted fire signals? This is with regards caller challenging and AFA?s. What do you turn out to and what do you not turn out to? Again, this info is required in our FRA?s.

Final Response:

During 2017-18, there were 4594 incidents that were classed as Potentially Life Threating. (This includes fires, as per the request) The average response time to these calls was 10 minutes and 37 seconds.

It will be difficult to give a generic answer as our response depends on the type of property and whether it is AFA exempt, however we have attached our policy on unwanted fire signals.
