Questions and final response:

Question 1 - "My question/comment is aboutBusiness/building safety, Freedom of information request/Fire report Under Freedom of Information request I should like you to provide me with information regarding the Cliffs Pavilion Theatre, Southend on Sea, Essex.

Could you tell me whether the seated theatre area has fire certificate for audience dancing or is it covered for seated audience please.

I know they have a separate disco/entertainment area downstairs called the Maritime Bar and I would assume this has passed fire inspection for such entertainment.

I have a legitimate reason to request what the Fire Inspection covers in the main theatre area (seated) i.e. numbers and restrictions/recommendations and am prepared to discuss these with yourselves.

The Fire Safety Order (FSO) 2005 became law on the 1st October 2006, replacing 118 pieces of legislation, repealing the Fire Precautions Act 1971, and revoking The Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations; this included the issuing of Fire Certificates.

This law means it is no longer the Fire Service's duty to make sure the workplace is safe.

That duty lies with the 'responsible person' and they will be held accountable under the new legislation.

The Responsible person would be the owner or operator of the premise.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service have visited the premise on 11th September 2021 to conduct a regular inspection.

This visit was satisfactory and compliant.

The licensing authority at Southend On Sea City Council would hold the data regarding the licensing conditions which would include conditions on numbers of people and any restrictions they imposed as conditions for the license.

We hope this information is useful to you.
