Questions and final response:
Question 1 - I am writing to request data under the Freedom of Information Act regarding information on wildfires that occurred in July of 2022 in this FRS district. Specifically, I am interested in obtaining the following information for the period of July 2022:
1. Location (coordinates) and timing (date and time of day) of the wildfires.
2. Fire size – ideally fire perimeters.
3. Number of resources deployed.
4. Fuel type burned (if available).
5. Impact (e.g. buildings/houses affected, personal injuries, infrastructure, fire service equipment, traffic delays, any evacuations, etc).
6. If/when a major incident was declared.
We published a response to a similar enquiry on our Transparency website EIR 1666 / December 2023 / Wildfire Data (essex-fire.gov.uk)
.This includes the period requested – July 2022.
The following data extracted from our operational debrief for this period, collated the following data across the operational response of ECFRS:
• July – 3,916 pump mobilisations across the county.
• July - ECFRS Control received 5,792 calls, this being 47% increase on the fiveyear average, resulting in 2,325 IRS reported incidents (July 2021 1,399).
• 82% of fires reported in July were outdoor fires.
We hope this information is useful to you.
