We can confirm that Essex County Fire & Rescue Service (ECFRS) does hold the information you have requested.

Question 1 - How many motor vehicles are owned by the service as of November 2024

ECFRS own three hundred and twelve motor vehicles as of 28ᵗʰ November 2024.

Question 2 - How many electric vehicles (including hybrid) are owned by the service as of November 2024

ECFRS own twenty-eight battery and plug in hybrid electric vehicles.

Question 3 - The manufacturer name of electric vehicles bought by the service up to November 2024

The manufacturers of the battery and plug in hybrid electric vehicles that ECFRS own, are:

Volvo

Tesla

BMW

Toyota

Question 4 - How much has your service spent on electric vehicles up to November 2024

For the period January 2023 to November 2024, ECFRS have spent £1,160550.00 on battery and plug in hybrid electric vehicles, these were purchased under Framework agreements

Question 5 - What are electric vehicles used for in your service

ECFRS use battery and plug in hybrid electric vehicles in our Operational, Resilience, and Prevention Departments

Electric vehicles are also used by our Senior Leadership Team/Management.

Question 6 - How many electric vehicles does the service plan to purchase in the five-year period to March 2030

ECFRS are in the process of updating our car policy. As part of our renewal procedure, we review each new vehicle requirement to ensure we procure the most suitable and efficient vehicle for the job.

We continue to trial appropriate battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to better understand their capabilities for our future fleet.

Question 7 - What budget has your service allocated to purchase electric vehicles every year up to March 2030?

ECFRS have a set budget each year for the purchase of our replacement vehicles, this includes Electric, Diesel and petrol engines.

Each new vehicle will be reviewed to ensure it is the most suitable and efficient for the job.

We are also testing BEVs to understand their capabilities for our future fleet.
