Here at Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, we are committed to employee engagement and giving our people a voice.

What is employee engagement?

Employee engagement is a workplace approach designed to ensure that employees are committed to their organisation?s goals and values, motivated to contribute to organisational success, and are able at the same time to enhance their own sense of well-being. Engaged employees enjoy more satisfaction at work, have improved productivity, as well as think, behave and act in a positive way.

Manager Briefings

Manager Briefings bring managers together with our Senior Leadership Team on a face-to-face basis so that information can be delivered, questionsasked and feedback collected.

Leadership Forum

The aim of our Leadership Forum is to give you as a leader something to own and share with your teams.

Your Voice Employee Engagement Forum

Your Voice Employee Engagement Forum began in December 2015 and is open to any member of staff to come along and join in the conversation.Employee Engagement Survey 2016. Our Engagement score has increased by 5% to 68%, which is a significant uplift and is credit to all employees and the efforts we all have made to improve our Service and the way we do things.??

We have a Whistle Blowing Policy and a Whistleblowing confidential advice line ? Public Concern at Work (PCAW) ? who provide FREE advice to individuals with whistleblowing dilemmas at work. They can help to identify how best to raise a concern while minimising any risk to the individual.?

In cases of fraud and corruption where the employee feels unable to speak to their line manager or the manager directly responsible for the area of concern, any of the following can be contacted: Clerk and Monitoring Officer, Audit Commission, Appointed External Auditors.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request you have the right to apply for an internal review.
