FOI / 4232 / 2021 - Police and Ambulance Service Calls

Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. We can confirm that Essex County Fire & Rescue Service does hold the information you have requested.

Please see below the answer to your request.

Questions and final response:

1. I would like to request a copy of any policies you have regarding providing assistance to other emergency services in particular police and ambulance especially for non-fire related reasons. As an example, a policy regarding gaining entry for medical emergencies etc. –

Our policy is currently being consulted on and not yet live or available to the wider service. Prior to COVID pandemic work started in liaison with the ambulance service to create a standalone document. However, due to current priorities and workloads this is on hold.

2. Do you have any policies regarding providing medical aid?

We do not have a policy providing medical/first aid, but crews receive trauma training which is provided by a third party.

3. How many times over the past 3 years have the fire service had to administer first aid for non-fire related injuries prior to ambulance attending?

We do not record this information.

4. How many calls over the past year have the fire service received from the Police? If possible, could this be broken down into call type?

5. How many calls over the past year have the fire service received from ambulance? If possible, could this be broken down into call type?

For Q4 & Q5 please see attached Excel spreadsheet which contains data on calls received from the police and ambulance service.
