1. How many tyres do you buy each year? And how many are removed each year between 2017 and now (e.g. 2017, 2018 and 2019)?

Tyres are only replaced when needed so annual figures vary. The figures purchased are; 2017 – 170, 2018 – 86, 2019 – 212.

2. Which companies supply tyres to your fire service?

We currently use ATS and Tructyre through the Crown Commercial Services framework.

3. What brands, products and sizes are they?

Truck tyres are Bridgestone and Michelin, all others are top tier brands (Michelin, Bridgestone, Continental, etc.), generally replacing like for like with what they had from new. Car and van sizes vary. Truck tyres are generally 275/70 R22.5 or 315/70 R22.5.

4. What proportion are summer, winter and all-season tyres?

All are standard all-season road tyres with the exception of the off-road vehicles which have all-terrain or off-road biased patterns.

5 At what tread depth do you remove tyres?

3mm.

6. Which firms collect these tyres?

The company changing the tyres collect and dispose of the tyres.

7. Are any tyres resold as part-worn tyres? If so, how many?

Not to our knowledge.

8. Do you re-groove your tyres?

Yes. Rear only

9. Do you re-tread your tyres?

Not as standard process.

10. Do you use TPMS?

Only where fitted from new as standard.

11. Do your tyres use RFID?

Only where fitted from new as standard.

12. Do you use a live tyre fleet telematics system? If so, which?

We do not use live tyre fleet telematics system.
