FOI / 4255 / 2021 - Hoarding

We can confirm that Essex County Fire & Rescue Service does hold the information you have requested.

Please see below the answer to your request.

Questions and final response:

Do you hold a register of any description which logs the addresses of homes where the resident is described in some way as being a hoarder of belongings or materials and so whose home might prove difficult to access in the case of a fire?

If so, could you please state how many addresses in your area are categorised in this way?

There are a total of 670 properties listed on the hoarding spreadsheet in the Essex County Fire & Rescue Service (ECFRS) area.

Could you also please state what materials or possessions are logged on this register which would be passed on to crews attending a fire call at any of these addresses to warn them of potential fire or safety concerns?

Having had an engagement from ECFRS an annotation on the address will prompt any mobilisation to the address to be increased by one pumping appliances and advise proceeding crews to the situation.

If there are any other factors that could be perceived to have any added concern for crews, for instance cylinders etc this will also be annotated on the mobilising system to warn proceeding crews.

Thank you for your interest in Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, we hope this satisfies your request.
