Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

We can confirm that Essex County Fire & Rescue Service does hold the information you have requested.

Please see below the answer to your request. Questions and final response:

Question 1 – I am writing to request some information under the Freedom of Information Act in relation to the rescue of a “bariatric person” I understand that in April 2012 a new category relating to obese people was created for your incident reporting systems. Could you please tell me how many call outs you received to move Bariatric or obese people from their homes or to rescue them during the following calendar years: 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2013?

See attached PDF with the data requested on table 1. Of these 294 incidents, only 166 incidents are recorded to have had a victim involved. The response to the question 3 reflects the unknown gender in 128 of the incidents. Please note that we only have data available from 2017 onwards.

Question 2 - Would it be possible to reveal whether you were called to assist the ambulance service or the police, or whether you received a call directly from the person’s home?

See attached PDF with the data requested on table 2.

Question 3 - Would you be able to list the gender of the people you moved?

See attached PDF with the data requested on table 3. 128 Incidents have no victim recorded so no gender data is available.

Question 4 - Where possible – could you please reveal the age of the youngest and oldest person that you would called to assist?

The youngest person ECFRS were called to assist was 21 and the oldest was 90. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
