Question 1 - How many full-time/wholetime firefighters does your service employ as of 1st February 2023?

611 Wholetime firefighting personnel are employed by ECFRS as of 31 January 2022

Question 2 - Of these, how many are registered as having secondary employment?

56

Question 3 - Please provide a breakdown of how many are employed by category eg 12 taxi drivers, 73 plumbers etc Note you do not need to include figures for On-Call firefighters, fire control staff or support staff. Just full-time firefighters of all ranks.

Please see PDF for breakdown of roles

Question 4 Please supply any rules or guidance your service uses for secondary employment covering maximum hours or ineligible jobs ?

Our Service has a Secondary Employment Policy.

No employee may engage in secondary employment without first obtaining written permission from the Service.

The undertaking of secondary employment without approval may result in disciplinary action being taken.

Applicants are required to comply with the Working Time Regulations (WTR).

Individuals should not include their position in the Service to promote or gain work.

Colleagues who do not hold an Inspecting Officer role can undertake fire risk assessments as they do not inspect premises in their primary role and so won’t be looking at their own Fire Risk Assessment.
