Thank you for your request under the Environmental Information Regulations.

Please see below the answer to your request.

Questions and final response:

Question 1 - Do the fire brigade, have any data on the number of hoarded or properties of self – neglect in the City, and if yes, can you forward?

We have searched our Incident Reporting System (IRS) for the previous four years; Hoarding is not a category of information that attending crews are requested to note on the IRS.

They are however asked to note any issues that are not captured in the generic fields and to input any information about risk/safeguarding concerns in the free text option.

The data below reflects concerns that crews have noted at incidents.

This information would be referred to our Safeguarding Team to assess and provide support to the residents concerned.

Year               Number of Incidents

2020                          0

2021                          1

2022                          4

2023 to date              4

Additionally, our Safeguarding Team hold information concerning properties that have been noted to have hoarding concerns.

In the Colchester area, there are currently 156 properties that are recorded as being hoarded properties.

I hope that you find this information useful.
